Mini-adventures in winter

In this wet, grey season it's hard to make that push toward going outside. The drear from the window is foreboding enough. So as soon as there's a window of opportunity (i.e. no rain, partial sun), we scurry outside with the birds and squirrels to make our mini-adventures.

This weekend we hiked to an overlook west of Belfort, "un petit tour du Salbert." Here's some of what we found...

Fungi with millions of tiny spores that shoot out the top like green gunpowder;

Trees covered in miniature alien spacecraft;

 Jolly mushrooms of all shapes, colors and sizes (though the orange were best to photograph);

Entire mountain ranges embedded in one boulder;

Ancient fortresses (which in France are more common than McDonald's)

and sneaky photo-ops... Ansel caught me in the act.

Stay tuned for more adventures... next time, on va en Italie !
